Frankly, I think it's superb. The setup is intuitive and painfree. I think the written documentation could do with a little spit and polish, but I've only briefly looked at it. It would perhaps be useful to be able to quickly and conveniently assign alternative weightmaps (for existing assets) to the rig (similar to how one can quickly and easily assign weightmaps to skelegons in Modeler), but I wonder if that's impossible in Layout due to SDK/LScript issues.
If a version 2.0 were ever planned, I'd wonder about possibilities such as walk cycle addons (basic footstep animation similar to how Maestro devs chose to implement it), but I guess that might be mission creep from a rigging tool.... It would be interesting to see crude dynamics coming in to play so that the rig could react to basic forces (weights, etc.), but again begin to wonder if Layout could actually support such things....
